Additional Information - Process Control Systems

Controlling process systems implies influencing process operations in the form of guiding or regulating the operations to ensure a desired outcome. Control engineering is now considered to be an essential topic for all chemical engineers.

A control system is typically required to perform one or both of the following functions:

1. Maintaining process at desired operating conditions.

2. Changing process from one operating condition to another.

An additional objective of process control is to maintain a certain level of desired performance. Good control performance will yield benefits for safe and profitable operations.
